The idea of using RSS is overwhelming yet consoling at the same time. It's like subscribing to a magazine or newspaper without the cost or clutter! The idea is overwhelming because where does one start? With all of that information at your fingertips, how do you choose what to subscribe to? Yet it's consoling because it can be organized and tucked away for later use. It can't be lost or soiled (if I had a dollar for every time I've spilled wine or coffee on my reading material - yikes). As with all of the new tools I'm learning about, RSS is another one that allows the user to play with it and find his or her own use for it.
Using RSS with students would be valuable and rewarding for all involved. It would save me time having to track down sources used by students and it would make researching "seem easier" for students. Some think that tools such as RSS feeds make people lazy, but on the contrary. I may have heard my last..."there isn't anything on my topic" from students because the topic will find them. Muahahaha.
